Mental Health Problem Statistics

"According to Children’s Mental Health Ontario (2002), one in five children and youths in Ontario will struggle with his or her mental health. More than 500,000 young people in Ontario suffer from a diagnosable mental health problem, such as anxiety, that may manifest itself in behaviour such as bullying or an eating disorder." (P.27)

The clash occurs under highly predictable conditions called a trigger or in CPS language an unsolved problems.

At the extreme end of the spectrum are behaviors that are severely injurious to the student or others, such as head-banging, cutting, stabbing, and shooting. But they all occur when the demands placed on a student exceed that student's capacity to adapt.”
